Practical equipment can make everyday living so much easier for people with sight loss, boosting their confidence and independence and making home a safer place. And it’s often simple ideas that can make the biggest difference.
Our resource room has on display a comprehensive range of equipment designed for people with sight loss. The equipment includes everything from talking clocks, reading and TV magnifiers to specially adapted kitchen equipment.
In the Daily Living section there are, for example, a liquid level indicator to help you pour a cup of tea and a talking microwave for cooking. We also provide information about the ways you can label your existing domestic equipment to make it easier and safer to use.
We carry a small stock of talking clocks and watches to try, with a full range viewable in a number of catalogues.
We also have several reading aids available. These items are more expensive and we advise making an appointment to try them before purchase.
The resource room is open to people who use our services as well as members of the public Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 4.00pm.
