Community support
Experiencing severe sight loss and registering as blind or partially sighted can be a very frightening and isolating experience. Our community support is here to help people regain their confidence and independence and to offer them more choices in life.
Our team of community outreach workers provides an extensive range of support to adults and children in their own homes. They visit people at least once a year, and give a lot of additional support to those who are in greatest need.
The community outreach team can give practical information, training, support and advice – not only about sight loss but also about the many other issues surrounding it, such as welfare and housing benefits.
We also help people with buying and setting up equipment, reading, form filling and sorting mail – basic help that can have a major impact.
