More than 3000 people receive help and support from Beacon in a variety of ways – from permanent accommodation to a drop-in centre and even holiday breaks – a comprehensive range of services for people with sight loss.
The Centre itself offers a range of accommodation, lots of activities, as well as other services such as a ‘talking newspaper’. As well as the services at our Centre in Sedgley, we operate a community outreach service and run a chain of charity shops.
The accommodation we provide includes a residential care home that offers people over 65 a safe and homely environment, a bungalow complex offering independent living with help at hand, and we’re currently building very sheltered housing.
Our range of activities is even more varied. We have a team of outreach workers who visit more than 3000 people in the community providing support. Our social groups meet in the local area. Activities in our centre include arts and crafts, IT, keep fit, braille and much more. And we also organise outings, both day trips and longer holidays.
