What is Blind Awareness Training?
Giving a good introduction to sight loss, each course ensures that delegates gain valuable practical experience that addresses both their training and your service needs.. Typically a programme will cover the following:
- The implication of sight loss, what it means in practical terms.
- The effects of different eye conditions.
- Guiding skills: participants learn to guide and be guided in real situations including crowds, up and down steps, through corridors.
- Equipment and services available for people with visual impairment.
- How to help and understand the mobility needs of people with a visual impairment.
- Advice on improving communication with people with sight loss.
- Useful preventative advice for delegates themselves.
