Our structure
We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. We have to follow strict rules on how we run ourselves and use our funds, and we have a number of patrons and trustees who scrutinise our operations.
Our patrons are Sir Jack Hayward OBE and Lady Hayward, and we enjoy the support of joint presidents:
- The Mayor of Dudley
- The Mayor of Wolverhampton
- The Mayor of Sandwell
- The Chairman of Staffordshire County Council
Responsibility of the organisation rests with our Council of Management (trustees). These currently comprise:

A range of skills are available to the organisation through these Trustees.
The Council of Management meets on a monthly basis and has an Audit and Finance subcommittee which meets bi-monthly.
Reporting to the Council of Management is the Chief Executive, Mr Ian Ferguson (pictured). The Chief Executive is delegated responsibility for the day to day running of the organisation by the Council and heads a Senior Management Team, comprising seven other managers.
The Centre currently employs some 104 members of staff.
Beacon Centre has achieved Investors in People status – recently reviewed and re-confirmed for a further three years.
